SHIFT ENGINEER - 2ND CLASS POWER ENGINEER

As a key member of our Client's power plant team, the Shift Engineer is responsible for providing solid leadership to a close knit team, to safely and efficiently maintain and operate our bio-energy power generation facility, while effectively managing compliance in all regulatory requirements, to achieve plant availability targets.

  • 2nd Class Power Engineer Certification.
  • Valid Class 5 Drivers license.

Our Client is an established North Central BC Sawmill.  Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Operations Superintendent provides strong and effective leadership and direction to front line supervisory staff while working closely with all other departments. Description

 

Your challenges:
You are responsible for the leadership of the daily maintenance activities for the business unit assigned which includes OSB, lumber, or power. You will also provide guidance and expertise to the Site Maintenance team in the development and implementation of maintenance programs to ensure that overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) meets or exceeds established maintenance targets.
 
Your primary responsibilities will include the following:
  • Plan, schedule and coordinate maintenance activities, organize shutdowns and other major tasks;
  • Maintain liaison between the operations and maintenance departments;
  • Utilize the Maintenance & Supply Chain Best Practices in conjunction with the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) for processing work orders, purchase requisitions,  weekly schedules, PM's, and updating the equipment database;
  • Ensuring the availability of parts, materials (kitting as required) and special tools are available for the work order system
  • Facilitate weekly and daily planning meetings;
  • Coordinate and prioritize maintenance work with appropriate operations, maintenance, engineering, and safety staff;
  • Fully utilize current information, procedures, and work methods to positively impact equipment reliability;
  • Provide technical leadership as necessary to production and/or maintenance employees;
  • Demonstrate a full commitment to the safety process and policies, including the integration of safety into all planning functions;
  • Actively pursue measures that improve operational efficiency, cost reduction, and equipment reliability;
  • Maintain a good working relationship with management, staff, and hourly employees.

Qualifications

 
Your profile:
  • Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering; or Red Seal Millwright
  • Minimum of 8 to 10 years of OSB or lumber mill supervisory experience;
  • Strong maintenance background with demonstrated technical skills, including an ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.

Your skills and assets:
  • Excellent leadership ability, including an ability to work collaboratively across multiple functions;
  • Good communication skills (both verbal and written), an ability to recognize contributions, and can quickly build trust and respect;

Engineering Manager, O&G Fabrication and Manufacturing - Calgary

As the Engineering Manager, you will be an exemplary leader. You will be responsible to supervise, manage, coach and direct a multidisciplinary team of engineering, designing, and drafting professionals. You will liaise with our internal manufacturing departments across multiple business units, and create lasting professional relationships external to our organization.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Manage the Engineering Department through hiring, directing, disciplining, performance evaluations, training, scheduling, goal setting, and termination.
• Keep abreast of the environment for engineers at other organizations (includes: working environment, salaries, responsibilities, expected rate of increasing skill and general competence) and help incorporate fresh ideas to our facilities
• Schedule and conduct performance reviews, segregating performance reviews from salary increases – provide daily performance feedback to mechanical engineers
• Implement and support systems and procedures that comply with the standards and requirements of API, ASME, ABSA, etc, and ensure compliance within the engineering department.

Position Summary :

The role of Estimator is to prepare cost estimates for the manufacturing of oil and gas processing equipment for Oil and Gas applications.

Duties & Responsibilities :

  • Complete, entire oil and gas processing equipment package estimates that include but are not limited to:
  • Estimates for package components including pressure vessels, piping including associated instrumentation and controls, structural steel, and assembly estimates.
  • Review customer specifications and applicable codes.
  • Determination of materials needed and special requirements.
  • Liaise and obtain quotes for material and sub-vendor requirements in terms of pricing and delivery.
  • Determination of and including in the estimates necessary NDE and associated costs.
  • Including in the estimate all aspects of costing required in the design basis specified by the applications engineer.
  • Prepare and compile the entire proposal that will be presented to the customer.
  • Work closely with GM, Business Development, and sales for proposal guidance.
  • Complete bid pre-qualifications as assigned.
  • Monitor the performance of and continually improve and update estimating tools.
  • Actively participate in the development of new estimating tools and procedures.
  • Update pricing in spreadsheets regularly used as an estimating tool.
  • Assist with monitoring shop and office performance to verify estimate basis.

Experience

  • Minimum of 5 to 10 years of experience estimating similar products in a similar organization.
  • Proficient knowledge of industry best practices.
  • Proven ability to produce high quality work while facing competing priorities and strict deadlines.
  • Demonstrate an ability to prioritize activities and stay focused in a dynamic ever changing environment.
  • Demonstrate an ability to develop departmental “Key Performance Indicators”.

Our client is a Canadian EPCM with a 40 year track record of delivering International and Domestic solutions to the top Oil and Gas processing and distribution companies in the world.   We are looking for a Sr. Process Engineer to anchor their new Calgary Branch, and oversee all aspects of its start-up, business development, and staffing requirements.

The successful candidate will have demonstrated success in Engineering Design and Management, previous experience in Alberta’s EPC sector at a Sr. Management level, as well as engineering experience in a fabricating/manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Organizes, manages, co-ordinates and motivates the multidisciplinary team in order to achieve the set objectives, promote and develop feedback within the team.
  • Develops engineering methods and workflows.
  • Develops and implements engineering related KPIs, ie. Efficiency, productivity and quality.
  • Optimizes design and selection of equipment in relation to specifications and manufacturing standards.
  • Supports the Sales Department in estimating the budget of man-hours on projects for biding purposes.

Required Experience

  • Process design of units (simulation, equipment sizing, etc).
  • Trouble shooting existing plants.
  • Assist and advise other engineers / technologists.
  • Client communications and meetings, as required.
  • Detailed process design.
  • PFD and P&ID generation.
  • Preparation of process information for equipment / instrumentation datasheets.
  • Equipment design (vessels, towers, exchangers, etc).
  • Specification and/or purchasing of buyout equipment, issuing of RFQ’s, quote comparison, vendor selection.
  • Review client specifications.
  • Work with instrumentation, piping design, and vessel design disciplines to ensure proper process design of all equipment.

Our Client has been selling and servicing industrial electric motors and generators in Alberta for over 60 years. We are currently looking for an experience Shop Manager to lead their Fort McMurray operations.

Duties
- Oversee daily branch operations.
- Manage production, assign staff, and oversee inventory.
- Support sales, and assist customer service as required.
- Hire, train, and mentor all shop staff and repair technicians.
